What made me think about starting a blog was the lack of consumer information about Viking's TruSear grill feature on the web. I just could not find any Google hit that did not have to do with buying the product or sites that price compare. Pretty sad. My dilemma was do I give up normal grill area for a high heat searing grill. The only real info I have to go one was the Viking site and the three sales people I spoke to. Each of the three sales people said they would not sell a grill without it. Seems that Viking training classes included each salesperson cooking their lunch (a steak) on a grill that includes the TruSear feature. So yesterday when I purchased my 41" Viking Grill from Barbeques Galore I ordered it with the TruSear option. More to come.
dude...I'm in the exact same movie with viking or not. already decided against the "smoker"...but trusear...e series v. t. what did you decide and why?

After speaking with three retailers and two people at Viking I was convinced to purchase a Viking Grill w/ the TruSear feature. All three sales people said that as part of their training they were invited to the Viking distributor and got to cook their lunch on a Grill with TruSear. Each said it is a must and wouldn't sell a Viking Grill without it. So I ordered a 41-inch E-series grill with TruSear. It is due next week (7 weeks on order). I'll post when it arrives.

It took a while to learn how to use it right. For a while I thought I might have wasted grill space by including the TruSear option. Now it is indispensable. Searing tuna and sword fish is just great. Nice crust and great grill marks. Also searing steak for the first few minutes helps keep the meat juicy. Wouldn't buy a grill without TruSear.
